Passports

Passport applications are accepted at the Tangipahoa Parish Clerk of Court's Office's in Amite and in Hammond.

What you need to have with you to apply for a Passport:

  1. Certified Copy of Birth Certificate

  2. Two 2 inch x 2 inch photographs from a professional studio (no photo booth). These can be taken at the Clerk's office in Amite or Hammond for a charge of $10.00.

  3. Previous Passport if available.

  4. Valid Driver's License.

  5. *** 2 Parents or 2 Legal Guardians must appear and execute the application (DSP-11) along with the applicant if applicant is under the age of 16. (as of 02/01/2008)

Both parents of child's legal guardian must:
      • Present evidence of childs U.S. citizenship and
      • Present evidence that they are the parents or guardian and
      • Show valid personal identification and
      • Sign and take oath before an authorized passport acceptance agent.

Passport Book Renewal By Mail

1. The issue date of your last passport was less than 15 years ago;
2. You were 16 or older when it was issued;
3. Your name is the same or you can submit name-change documentation (marriage certificate or court order);
4. You can submit this passport; and
5. It is undamaged.

Sixteen years of age or older, a passport is valid for 10 years.
Fifteen years of age or younger, a passport is valid for 5 years.

***Expedite Service change - Effective Immediately***
The payment of $14.85 for overnight return delivery service must now be included with the expedited passport fee,
payable to the Department of State.

To Expedite Service, in order to receive a passport in 3 to 4 weeks an applicant must bring the following:

  1. 1 - Express Mail Envelope with label from any U.S. Post Office

  2. 1- Return Mailing Label from any U.S. Post Office

  3. 1- $16.25 stamp from any U.S. Post Office.

  4. An additional $74.85 Fee is required to Expedite Service. This fee may be a Check or Money order made payable to U.S. Department of State (fee changed from $16.25 to $14.85 effective 05/12/08).
