Routine Passport Service can NOW take 6-8 WEEKS from the date you apply for the passport to the date you receive the passport.
EXPEDITED Passport Service (for additional fees) can NOW take 2-3 WEEKS from the date you apply for the passport to the date you receive the passport.
Passport applications are accepted at the Tangipahoa Parish Clerk of Court’s Office’s in Amite and in Hammond. If you are getting your passport in our Hammond office you will need to arrive by 3:30 p.m. For further assistance or questions, please contact our department at (985) 284-2670.

What you need to have with you to apply for a Passport:
- Certified Copy of Birth Certificate (No Birthcards)
- One – 2 inch x 2 inch photograph from a professional studio (no photo booth).
Photograph Requirements
- Previous Passport if available.
- Valid Driver’s License
- If applicant is under the age of 16, 2 Parents or 2 Legal Guardians must appear and execute the application (DS-11) along with the applicant (as of 02/01/2008). Both parents of child’s legal guardian must:
- Present evidence of child’s U.S. citizenship and
- Present evidence that they are the parents or guardian and
- Show valid personal identification and
- Sign and take oath before an authorized passport acceptance agent.

Sixteen years of age or older, a passport is valid for 10 years.
Fifteen years of age or younger, a passport is valid for 5 years.
Fees to Expedite Service
In order to receive a passport (Book Only) in 2 to 3 weeks an applicant must bring the following:
1. 1 – Express Mail Envelope with label from any U.S. Post Office
2. 1 – Return Mailing Label from any U.S. Post Office
3. 1 – Priority Mail Express stamp from any U.S. Post Office
