QUALIFYING for October 12, 2019 Primary Gubernatorial Election:

Qualifying Dates

August 06th – 08th, 2019
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day

Persons interested in qualifying for the below listed offices shall qualify at the Clerk of Court’s office in Amite, LA:


Candidate Office Titles:

Parish Wide:
  • State Senator
  • State Representative
  • Sheriff
  • Clerk of Court
  • Coroner
  • Parish President
  • Councilmen
  • Assessor
Municipalities:
  • Town of Independence: Mayor, Chief of Police, Aldermen
  • City of Ponchatoula: Mayor, Chief of Police, Council Members

Qualifying fees for a recognized party affiliation:

***If candidate is not a member of a recognized party(Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, and Reform) he/she only pays the amount in the qualifying fee column.***

The qualifying fee shall be paid in cash or by certified or cashier’s check on a state or national bank or credit union, United States Postal Money order, or money order issued by a state or national bank or credit union.

Valid identification is required when qualifying.
